What is Sea Scouting?
Sea Scouting offers co-ed sailing and leadership skills for youth ages 14 - 20.
About Our Ship
Ship 7916 was chartered in August of 2007, and is one of several Scouting units sponsored by VFW Post 7916.
Most of the members of Ship 7916 are mainly interested in sailing, although we participate in plenty of on-shore adventures as well. Past activities include: attending the annual Sea Scout Winter Training event at Catoctin Mountain Park; a weekend aboard the region's training vessel, der PeLiKan; a game night and a movie night; painting the hull of der PeLiKan and of one of our own boats, the Amanda Grace; a weekend cruise aboard der PeLiKan, and two days taking First Aid and Boating Safety courses from the head of the local U.S. Naval Sea Cadet unit, which included the opportunity to spend the night aboard the destroyer USS Barry.
The unit holds regular meetings at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month (unless otherwise noted) at:

The post is located across the street from the Occoquan waterfront. Get directions. Prospective members and adult leaders are welcome at any meeting. Go in the front door, straight ahead, and through the door that leads upstairs. Be prepared to introduce yourself and let us know how you found out about us.
